Choose by door count and where it sits (floor merchandiser vs under-bar):
| Countertop / single glass door | Grab-and-go drinks and snacks at the register. |
| Two–three glass doors | A c-store or café beverage wall. |
| Bottle cooler / back bar | Low-height under-bar refrigeration sized to fit beneath the bar top. |
| Ice-cream / freezer merchandiser | Glass-lid or glass-door frozen display. |
Merchandisers still have to hold product at code temperature (≤41°F for TCS refrigerated items; frozen for freezers) even with glass doors opening all day — NSF/ANSI 7. Interior lighting and shelving must be cleanable.
A commercial merchandiser is built to hold ≤41°F even with doors cycling all day — that's the difference from a residential glass-door fridge. For alcohol-only display, some jurisdictions are more lenient, but a true merchandiser holds food-safe temps.
Low-height refrigeration (bottle cooler) designed to fit under a bar top, with sliding or hinged doors facing the bartender. It's sized by width and bottle capacity rather than by shelves.
